The petitioners pray that a Veteran Law is enacted by Parliament to meet the needs of military veterans and their dependents.
The True North is collecting signatures to petition the Kenyan parliament to pass a Veterans Law.
True North work has informed that there are insufficient resources to reach military veterans who are in every county, constituency and ward in Kenya.
There is also no reference to how military veterans and their dependents are honored after their service. The exists no law which compels the government to address the psychological and physical, economic and social, legal and environmental difficulties/grievances/
problems which most military veterans and their dependents suffer after their service.
Many international nations we benchmark with in peace and security have by laws and measures instituted to cater to their military veterans. This initiative endeavors to elevate Kenya’s status by demonstrating that She cares for those who defend it’s sovereignty by sacrificing their all.
Under the Kenyan constitution, an Act of parliament to give effect to Article 37 or 119 on the right to petition Parliament to make provision for the procedure for the exercise of the right pursuant to those Articles; enhance public participation in the parliamentary and legislative process and for connected purpose.
As True North shares this petition here we ask that you sign as a signal that you care about the life expectation and experience of Kenyan military veterans.
